Architectural Drafting and Space Planning
with Architect, Jairo Leon

For this project I worked with a team of contracted architects and landscape designers to design and draft the new building for The Chapel at Cypress Springs.

Jairo and I designed a Chapel and Convent facility to house faculty members.  The three buildings were to be located on the same site and have walkways connecting them.

I handled the design for the two larger buildings on the property per the client's needs and as directed by Jairo.

ADA compliance is required for any new public buildings.  My responsibilities included the research and implementation of all specifications needed for wheelchair accessibility for the New Chapel and Convent buildings.

INTERIOR PERSPECTIVE

Preliminary perspectives were offered to the church in order for us to design a space that fit their needs best.  I modeled the building in SketchUp for the client, and provided them with six views of the interior.

After the consultation, new details were added to the vaulted ceiling. These changes can be seen in the section drawings below.

CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS

Building plans are often shared with engineers and other design professionals.  These documents help us to communicate our designs with the contractor, millworker, and landscape architect.  Building, fire, plumbing, and electrical code, along with government regulations are often dictated in the plans.

Strict guidelines for the builder are included with the construction documents.  Paint colors and material specifications ensure that the finished product will match the desired outcome.
